SECURITY MEASURES
The Elizabeth Street Gate will be locked after assembly as will the front door at 8:15 a.m. There is a front doorbell along with a sign requesting that all visitors go directly to the office. Please check the attached flyer. Please talk to your children about following safe practices in school and out of school.FESTIVAL NEWS
Please read all the informational flyers being posted in today’s Wednesday Communication.
•Participation Hours
Required family festival work hours are as follows:
10 hrs for families with 2 participating parents (includes families with parents not living together).
6 hrs for families where 1 parent solely takes care of/is involved with the family. ( Just clarifying)
There was a misprint in the Parent-Student Handbook which should have stated 6, not 5 hours.
•Scheduling Assignments
Scheduling assignments are available at the school and festival websites, but we are short of people on Saturday afternoon. Can anyone stay and work extra hours? It will really help keep the event running smoothly.
•Teen Dance/Pizza
If any middle school family is willing to sponsor pizza for the dance, please contact Karen Han at kehan94@post.harvard.edu.
•Festival Talent Show For Interested Adults
Are there any parents who would like to perform at the festival? Please contact Robb Erskine <rserskine@gmail.com, 415-577-0502 if you are interested. There are available times on Saturday and Sunday between 1-2 p.m. and 3-4 p.m.
•Festival Book Nook Drop-Off
We are looking for new and gently used books to be sold at the Festival. There are two boxes in the school foyer for book drop-off. All book donations are appreciated.
LIFETOUCH PICTURES
School pictures have arrived and are being sent home with your child today. Student IDs are now at the office. Students may purchase an ID card for $1.00 after school.
SPORTS COUNCIL FUNDRAISER
Hot dog lunches for those students who ordered will be served this Thursday.
IOWA TESTS OF BASIC SKILLS
This week students in grades 2 – 8 are taking the ITBS Standardized Tests. The tests continue through Wednesday, September 30th. Please have your children rest and eat well so that taking these tests will be a positive experience for them. Please do not schedule appointments or have students come to school tardy. No group tests will be given in the afternoon.
AFTERSCHOOL ENRICHMENT CLASSES
Students attending afterschool classes will be brought to the school yard upon dismissal at 4:00 p.m. Those students being picked up will be seated at the blue benches closest to the Elizabeth Street gate. Those students remaining for Extended Care will be signed in with Mrs. Robinson. Parents will need to pick up their children directly from the school yard, not from the classroom.
EXTENDED CARE ICE CREAM
Ice cream will be sold in Extended Care on Fridays during this warm season.
SIXTH GRADE SCIENCE CAMP
The sixth grade students and parents would like to offset the cost of Science Camp by collecting used ink cartridges. Please see flyer. There are additional activities planned to help with the costs. They include the following:
September 24th:Free (appropriate) dress for $2.00
I will see you all at the school festival! Thank you for all your efforts on behalf of St. Philip School. Thank you, especially, to Doreen King-Roberts, Amy and Edward Huson, and the festival chairs and co-chairs.
Have a great week! Mrs. Remy Everett
